This is texturong TV. Hey everyone. We're back here at our ews re:invent coverage.
I got to tell you I went downstairs to get some of our guests. It's a zoo down there. There's 55,000 pizzas with the thing but in our little Lobby here at the wind, it's it's crazy down there.
I would lose. We it's very hard to keep it together. But we were lucky enough to find this gentleman.
We didn't just pick them up down there. He actually had an appointment and he was looking but you still had to get me because I didn't hear him out. Yeah.
Mike maciag. He's with Dinah Chase. Hey, Mike.
Welcome. Thank you TV. Yeah, we're like, you know, it's kind of the survival of the fittest down there where we found you it is anyway, so my look people our audiences heard of Dinah Chase many of them are probably customers or you know, evaluated Etc.
But for those who don't know, why don't we give them a little diner Chase overview? Yeah, absolutely. So yeah just quickly dietrace leads in the space called observability.
and observability is becoming increasingly important to two things to digital Transformations that most companies are doing And Cloud migrations or modernization is what a lot of things are people getting talked about at reinvent here. Yep, modernization projects and making sure that that happens. What observability does is.
It ensures the software works perfectly that we understand if something needs to be optimized if something breaks if something goes wrong anywhere in the stack from the application through the infrastructure through the networking through the databases the whole way down through the entire full stack if you will what's happened in that regard and kind of what dining traces unique claim. The fame is is really high degrees of intelligence and automation around that. It's driven by an AI engine that we like to call Davis and Davis can get the precise causative answers that has really become something that people no longer can do because the scale of this is you move more things in the cloud is beyond what you can go solve with just putting data on glass and saying hey, here's something that could be going on there in lies the issue, right?
I mean look we've had a Application lifecycle management and we have application program management 8pm and and product management and you know we've had things. That kind of help people manage their software and their apps. But the scale of today.
You want to say it's because of the cloud or it, you know, the chicken or the egg what came first is it because of the cloud or is the cloud because of it, but the scale of the data today the scale of what we managed today. Without things like Ai and ML and automation. It's just it's beyond it's beyond what a person or a team of people can do.
And and so observability is has become the answer, right? How do we get our hands around this huge data set? How do we get actionable intelligence from it and then actually act that's all at the speed of business today.
That's right. It's not an easy. It's not easy.
Right? It's it's not easy and you know to answer your Chicken and the Egg question, you know, I think. things moved along, you know when you're in monolithic architectures on premise and then you moved into Cloud architectures kind of in the early Cloud architectures were as one app, right and you got the multi-cloud and then the minute you've got to Containers being the Primary way that things are getting done.
Now. You can't count on something being there for more than a second. It is, right and is our founder likes to call it.
There's been a kind of a Cambrian explosion in data complexity which has been good for our business and good for customers from the perspective of that's the point where they have to stop and say, you know what my old way of doing things isn't working anymore. What it used to do in monitoring isn't doing it for me or some of the early kind Alm or infrastructure monitoring companies aren't doing it for me anymore. I need to kind of go do this a different way.
The sad part is many people don't know that there's an alternative and they spend a lot of time rolling things on their own and now you're taking your absolute best resources inside of your company that should be building apps for your customers and turning them inward to kind of go do observability. Absolutely and it's not I don't care how big your company is. It's not the kind of thing.
You're gonna develop bespoke right at your company. That's right. Right the it's just it's Too big a thing to Grapple with you know, especially as you said if it's not core and critical to what you do and you're putting that kind of resources into it.
Yeah you that's not a formula for Success. So. Here we are at AWS reinvent 55,000 people.
What are you hearing about them about observability and and these kinds of issues? Yeah, so Amazing to be back at AWS. I mean last year was you know, but was it was big it was big but it was meant right.
We're being careful about covid like and this is like and now has the energy and that you kind of kind of expected, you know in that regard if you looked across the cloud. Providers the three major Cloud providers and you added up their revenue. So that's Google Microsoft in in Amazon.
And that the revenue last quarter. It's 160 billion dollars growing at 35% So it's undeniable what's going on in this marketplace with modernization. It's modernization of bringing my old Legacy apps into the cloud and more specifically reark detecting them in modern ways.
And that's what's driving this kind of this whole it's whole explosion growth. Yep. Yep.
You're right, and I don't disagree with you. But let me just play devil's advocate for a minute. All right?
You know, sometimes I talk I I've been in technology for more than a minute and I talked to friends. And they say, you know, you live in a devops bubble you live in this bubble where everyone's using kubernetes and everyone's using containers and it's cloud and Cloud native and you know what when you look at what's actually in the cloud versus what's not in the cloud today? What do we you know, there's actually more not in the cloud.
So one would say is crazy is this all is The future still ahead of us. There's still a lot more it's modernization. And and who knows what'll come with that?
Yeah. It's it's gonna it's gonna get crazier. I mean I give you an example so a couple of examples Dyna Trace focuses on the global 15,000.
So it's the largest 15,000. I it organizations in the world going through the nirvanizations going through their digital Transformations. We've got about let's say give or take 3000 companies of that.
So just from a company perspective. We're just beginning in the penetrate the marketplace that we're focused on and then inside of those companies we have yet to kind of penetrate all of that. So it just continues to grow in that respect the change that I've seen and I've been at dining trace for a little over four years now and in the cloud business kind of as long as there's been a cloud business, you know going on the change that I've seen is those last pieces of resistance of here's something that's never going in the cloud.
That's going away. Yeah, you know, you see the Advent of air gap clouds with the government. Yep, you know and kind of doing that for even the top secret stuff that the conversation is over in terms of if it's going to it's a matter of when and how yep, and so I completely agree with you that Five years from now.
I'm not sure that I want to be at this. Yeah, yeah. I don't know you.
know quite honestly, that's of those why we got this sweet. I said, I'm not gonna stand on that floor and compete with 50,000 people making noise. We're running around.
We'll do it here if people want to come up to us and do an interview we'll do an interview if they don't it's okay. Yeah, and we think you know from from our perspective and we see it with our customers as well. The key here is managing Cloud doing the Cloud right getting the optimization getting the scale right getting the performance, right, you know getting the cost, you know structure right?
It's beyond what humans can do. This is not about our robot going to come take over your job or is a I can take over your job question is can you actually go do your job without it? And that's why we've made all this investment.
You know, I think Gathering data, yeah and things happen that way not the end game, but this was the byproduct of all the Big Data automation all these kind of macro trends that we've seen over the last five to ten years is you can't you can't manage this by hand anymore? No, it's impossible you know, I I look at it though and Yeah, so what do you see on the horizon though? That is.
Not more of the same. You know not the same but more but what do you see that really is maybe game changing. There's there's a convergence that's happening.
Yeah, you know when you get to the scale of what observability is today or what observability is as dinotrades can do it. You have the majority of an Enterprises data flowing through this system and there's increasing things. You can go do with this.
You know, we just announced last week something called grail for business analytics because people think of our business as you're managing the infrastructure, you're managing the applications Etc what just so happens that we've got all business data flowing through there as well. Yeah. So if I can basically grab hold of that business data in real time and create analytics platform around that I can start changing fundamentally the way that people think about, you know, shopping cart, you know shopping cart abandonment or settling, you know, settling, you know trades at the end of the day.
Yeah, these metrics are the life, but even our little company here. Yeah, right, you know we have started. Putting a big push we started using practical bombora, which is more intent but between all of we probably use three or four different analytics packages now.
Yeah, we're tracking a lot more stuff that kind of data that kind of intelligence of what what do people do when they come here. Yeah. What do they want?
What did they not like and then, you know devops feedback. Loops iterating A/B Testing Canary testing, whatever you want to call it, right and and learning feature flags and stuff like this all of a little things. It's huge.
Yeah, it's huge all of these things and that convergence continues, right? Yeah a year ago. We got into the security business because again here we stop what security is like security becomes it, you know, very very primary thing that happens, you know in that regard just recently announced, you know, grail for logging analytics to do login analytics and massive scale along with that.
Yeah, and this just another thing long Analytics. Look log analytics quite frankly was always a pain in the butt. Yeah, right because it was hard.
It was getting your arms around your day again, and it's manual and it dependent on a person to be able to go do that. Right? It made people super animals.
It's a great case so lots and lots of use cases on that and you can imagine a day, you know, where you start to say. Okay, this all exists. It's all on a scalable platform.
Let's open it up and let other people do analytics on that date as well. Yeah, absolutely and it's instrumentation. Hey, man.
com. Yep, if they want to get more information on some of the things we spoke about just go to the front. We'd love to have people visit us there.
All right Mike. Thanks for stopping. All right, thank all right enjoyed it.
Hey, we're at AWS reinvent dining Trace here. We're gonna be back in just a bit with our next guest.
