Hi again, everyone here the headlines for January 23rd. First up T-Mobile one of the largest US Wireless carriers announced that a hacker had breached this network in late of November of last year installed data over 37 million customers including addresses phone numbers and date of birth. T-Mobile did State the data exposed to the theft did not include passwords bank account or credit card information though.

The company said that it would spend over $150 million dollars throughout 2023 to increase its data security in other Technologies. Zooming out though. This is not the first time T-Mobile has been hacked in recent years with another breach occurring back in late 2021.

Additionally, the frequency of cybersecurity breaches that T-Mobile is an outlier among other telecommunication companies and raises questions about it cyber security management. Next the Supreme Court of India has refused to block Google's antitrust order which could potentially have a negative impact on the company's Financial stability in India. The court denied Google's requests to block a ruling made by India's antitrust Watchdog for anti-competitive practices and assuming a dominant position in markets such as its App Store web search services and online video hosting Google has one last chance to avoid the ruling through the national company law appellate tribunal if it does not rule in Google's favor though.

The company will be required to make changes to Android. zooming out India's Google's largest market by users with over a half a billion monthly active users Google has warned that if the ruling is allowed to proceed it would lead to devices becoming more expensive and increase in unchecked apps that pose a threats to security. While on the subject of Google it is announced that is cutting 6% of its Workforce or approximately 12,000 jobs as it becomes the latest tech company to reduce its staff.

Additionally, the company has stated that it will be focusing more on investing in artificial intelligence as an area of growth. This is one of the company's biggest ever rounds of layoffs. And it adds to the other tens of thousands of job losses announced by Microsoft Amazon and other tech companies as they adapt to a more uncertain economic environment.

Just this month 48,000 jobs have been cut by major companies in this sector. Next up Amazon is announced that it plans on terminating its long-running charity program Amazon Smile as part of its cost saving efforts. The program which is in operation for 10 years will close on February 20th of this year.

The program donated a small percentage of eligible purchases to a selected charity. But Amazon has stated that with over 1 million Charities. The programs impact was often not significant.

This decision comes as Amazon is cutting jobs and reducing various parts of its business to reduce expenses. Earlier this month Amazon announced that the layoffs that the company will affect their own 18,000 employees in primarily impact the company's retail Division and its people experience and Technology organizations.
