He also talked about Hawaii’s new law to balance science with culture and the environment as well as how major automobile companies will begin replacing gas-powered muscle cars with electric cars. Finally, he previewed a Security Boulevard article that discussed the release of the Blueprint for Ransomware Defense, a DevOps.com piece that explained a study showing steady DevSecOps progression and a video on Digital CxO that discussed why decentralized applications require an enterprise-grade blockchain platform.

Hi everyone here the headlines for August 23rd. 9 billion dollars worth of cryptocurrency was stolen in the past seven months much of the stolen cryptocurrencies due to the increase in hacks on decentralized finance or D5 protocols D5 transactions have increased in popularity over the past couple of years, but they're vulnerable to hacking as they are relatively immature. There seems to be no signs of stopping of this crypto theft though despite the recent drop in value of cryptocurrencies.
Next the British government announced that human drivers won't be liable for accidents. When a vehicle is self-driving instead. The manufacturer is operating self-driving Vehicles will be held liable according to the country's new roadmap to achieve widespread rollout of self-driving cars by 2025.
This could set a global precedence though as liability of self-driving vehicles are still a gray area. In addition. The UK is also investing 30 million dollars into the emerging AV Market to gain the full benefits that the autonomous vehicle technology provides.
Next in the news doordash is announced that it is ending its partnership with Walmart in September the two companies first partnered up in 2018 when Walmart started using doordash to deliver its groceries to the customers. This end of the partnership though isn't surprising as Walmart has been slowly working on rolling out its own delivery service platform spark which now accounts for 75% of its deliveries and while doordash has ended his partnership with Walmart. It is announced several high-profile Partnerships with other companies, including one with Facebook for delivering items from the Facebook Marketplace.
In other news Hawaii has implemented a new state law stating that a sacred mountain of the native Hawaiians Mauna Kea must be protected for future generations. And that science must be balanced with culture and the environment this marks the shift in policy as for the past 50 years. The astronomers have controlled this Summit native Hawaiians want to preserve that site and other sacred sites, but business and political leaders desire astronomy to support jobs and why is tourists heavy economy?
This will be an interesting case study to whether or not astronomers and native Hawaiian people can work together to study science responsibly from a culturally significant land. Next up in the news major automobile makers have announced that they will begin replacing gas powered muscle cars with those that run on batteries instead. The lantus's Dodge brand said it will stop making gasoline versions of the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger muscle cars by the end of next year and that the factories that make them will transition to making all electric cars.
General Motors is also recently set at plans to build an all-electric Chevrolet Corvette. The reasons that are being stated for the shift are due to electric cars being faster off the starting line having better handling as well as stricter government pollution requirements. However, it will take a few years for these gas power cards to go away completely.
