I guess there must be a break for lunch sessions or something. Yeah, the lottery people very very busy. You're lined up to kick soccer balls.

They were lined up for Liz rice book signing over here. I saw earlier, and I said Jen. But we have our own little rock star here.

It's my friend, Dan Garfield. You know, I watched I watched Dan's career path trajectory and I smile. I think the first time I interviewed Dan.

Ah, maybe like was it called devops world the cloud. It might have been dockercon. No before dark matter.

Yeah. It was like a cloud bees or Jenkins world. Oh, yeah Jenkins World, maybe yeah.

Jenkins world, you know, it was the your company was. brand new Yeah, yeah. yeah, we started you know, we we did the Silicon Valley like if you ever seen that show still Silicon Valley we had a house that we rented that was our office that I had your original pressure and we took I remember we we were doing deals with like Fortune 500 companies and we were sitting in In our conference room, that was just a bedroom with the table in it.

You know these things go that I starts. Yeah now we're on four continents, you know. Highly distributed and grown quite a bit.

So it's nice to have absolutely and and then did not just fresh trucks but you individually, you know, you had made the move. I guess. It's about two years ago to Chief open source officer.

Yeah, right. Yep, and Really a big engine of growth has been the Argo project that you guys started. Yeah.

Well so the founders so anyway, yeah. So the the original Argo project was started by a team called Athletics and they were we we knew all those guys when we started code fresh and they had some some ideas about where they wanted to go with sort of data pipelines and things and then is that developed they ended up getting acquired by into it because they didn't have a really a commercial model and at that point it became a cncf project and we became I think the first external maintainers on the project and so and then and then we launched a commercial version of Argo CD about five months later. So it's been about two and a half years.

Yeah since that happened and he's longer it's yeah, I mean, it's been like a Time Warp. But yeah, so we've we've helped more people adopt our goal and more companies than Anyone else in the world? I mean, there are people that you know worked on the original Argo code that haven't seen nearly as many Argo installations as we have actually man.

So, let me just wrap a bow on the Daniel story. Chief open source officer maintainer of Argo project. Yeah, right.

What else is on the resume co-creator of open-getops and they get Ops working group? Yep, and that was that was a really cool. So that actually came even before Argo we we thought they're really should be a standard around how software is delivered and we were looking at devops we were looking at agile and we were thinking these terms get overloaded like crazy.

What if we could get some it can like a consensus happening. So we pulled together a group from we've Works AWS GitHub and Azure was the original kind of group that we pulled together and then we brought together over a hundred and I don't know 50 different contributors from different companies representing interests and we had 10,000 hours of meetings and discussions and GitHub issues for figuring out and consolidating it down to just four principles. So that was very fun.

And now of course, there's git Ops con. We have that coming up coming up early May in Vancouver. Yeah.

I think I want to say May 8th or ninth. Is that right to you? Yeah, right after my birthday.

Yeah. Okay. Well that makes it easy.

I'll be birthday. Just fantastic fantastic stuff. So we here at this.

Cubecon though, and this is a crazy 10,000 people. Things are back Dan. What what's news between Argo and get what we got get UPS Khan out there, but between Argo I know there was a Was there Tuesday kind of event?

Yes. So on Tuesday we did argocon and this is the first in person. Yeah, this is the first argocon Europe.

We didn't argocon us last year. Yep, and I co-chaired this one along with a guy from Acuity will check he's great. And we managed to get together really great crew of people and they put together a fantastic program and it was the largest co-located event at kubecon and it was standing room only really most of the sessions were overflowed.

It was was right. I was joking that next year. It's gonna be our gocon and we'll have the cola right?

Well, you know for that a couple of coop sessions on the side, that's right, you know, I feel on it. I think we produce the first hour go Khan with you beautiful, right? Yes.

Yes, you know. Yes the very first argocon. So actually this is our third argocon only the second in person, but the third the first one Tech strong actually step down and you guys All the AV you figured out the streaming you made it work digitally absolutely and they're right.

We had over 5,000 people. I remember that was like the first sort of one where we said. Hey, that's really a lot of people in there.

There's things real we should keep an eye on. Yes. And you know now we launched well container journals now Cloud native con.

And of course, that's where we do a lot of our Argo coverage. Yeah, and and we'll be at get off scans. You know, I'm gonna say get caught get up kind in Seattle will be streaming live there as well.

So Mike bizard will be hosting that anyway, so we got to get up stuff. We got the Argo stuff. Let's talk a little bit about code fresh.

Oh, yeah. Well, so well, actually I was gonna I was gonna share what are two more things on Argo but so I don't know if you guys have covered too much salsa. There's a new supply chain security standard.

Some of the folks at chain guard worked a lot on this. I think you're worth it and we just announced this is a lot of work from chain guard folks that came in volunteered in the Argo project, but we just announced yesterday that Argo is I think it's the first project in the cncf to be salsa 3 compliant. So we're signing all our artifacts with all the different standards in our build processes, which was a big project and some of the folks at chain guard really did the heavy lifting which is phenomenal.

So that's excellent news. We're doing an Argo end user survey right now. So if you're an Argo user go to the art the Twitter page and fill out the survey we want it.

We want feedback. We want to figure out where we should be investing in the project and what people are excited about so there's a lot happening there this exciting get Ops get Ops con and then to come back to code fresh since you were asking me about code fresh. So I think that it's been really remarkable over this last year.

When we first launched our Enterprise offering on Argo CD. and that was that was two and a half years ago almost three years ago. We would show it to people and they would be like well, that sounds really cool.

But like I'm not hitting it in the problems yet that you're solving because it was so early and now over the last year when we show people. Hey, you can you can manage all your instances in a single interface and if you all your applications. Suddenly their eyes lights up light up because they have that problem when we're able to show them traceability from not just your git Ops repo but also what's happening in the application repos.

It's affecting the deployments right now. Suddenly, they're like, oh my gosh. I've been trying to figure out how to build this and even this conference the reaction that people have is visceral.

I literally had yesterday like Jaws dropping on people which is That's good. Love to have that for man. So so the company is doing well.

We've got a lot of great customers and that the interest and excitement around not only what we're doing with Argo and gitops but also even our CI CD because we you know, we have the whole platform and and that side has been growing in a kind of a surprising way that I hadn't expected this year. So big changes and and big things happening which is exciting, you know, we so we do We do a lot of interviews like this even be a zoom and then we do longer form videos. Right?

Like I called TV shows but their video shows one of the ones we do is a monthly show with the CDF. Okay about CD pipeline. And I wasn't wondered why we got to get you on that show.
